Behind the Scenes of Fighting for the Right to Fight

Join curator Eric Rivet as he takes webinar participants through the Museum's latest special exhibit, Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in WWII. Explore the stories of some of the one million African Americans who served in the armed forces, not only for victory against tyranny abroad, but also for victory over racism and discrimination at home. Showcasing oral histories, images, and artifacts from the exhibit and the Museum's Digital Collections, the webinar will focus on the tremendous achievements of black servicemen and women and the systemic setbacks, stereotypes, and prejudices in the military. Learn about race riots, workplace discrimination, and other struggles on the Home Front, and how returning vets advocated for change, setting the stage for the Civil Rights Movement.

Watch on your lunch hour, or at your convenience with recordings sent to every registrant. No need to worry about the technology—all you need is a computer with a high-speed internet connection to view and participate.

Cost: $10; Free for Museum members.
