Join us live and in person for a Meet the Author event! Local reporter Tyler Bridges joins Rob Citino on stage to discuss Bridges latest book about his father’s harrowing experiences in World War II.

The National WWII Museum’s Institute for the Study of War and Democracy is excited to host its first in-person event on the Museum’s campus in over 18 months! Join us for an exciting and deeply personal conversation about Bridge’s story of his father, Richard, and his WWII experiences as a B-24 crewmember who was shot down, captured, and who then escaped from a POW camp and was airlifted to safety in Italy by the British.

Richard’s story went untold until after his death in 2003, when Tyler pieced it together. The younger Bridges’s odyssey in search of his father’s wartime experiences connected him with the families of other crew members of the B-24 and led him to retrace his father’s footsteps through Austria, Hungary, and the former Yugoslavia. With his findings, Bridges has woven a story not only about World War II and the bravery of this unique group of soldiers, but also about fathers and sons, what can get lost in the gulf between generations, and how patience and understanding can bridge that gap.
