Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf Film Screening and Dinner
|
Join us for dinner and a screening of the documentary film Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf. Ahead of the screening, Master Chief SEAL (Ret.) Steve “Gonzo” Gonzalez, one of the stars of the film, will discuss the documentary and the organization behind it, Force Blue. Among the first men to set foot on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, were the Naval Combat Demolition Units—predecessors of the Navy SEALS—tasked with demolishing the Nazi’s nearshore defenses to clear the way for the troops that would follow. Braving withering fire and with minimal support, they successfully created avenue of safe passage while suffering unprecedented casualties. Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf follows four Navy SEAL veterans as they visit the site of the bloodiest day in US Naval Special Warfare history to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Following in the bootsteps of their forefathers, they pay homage to the fallen and attempt to better understand their courage and sacrifice. Date:
