Dinner with a Curator: "Loyal Forces: WWII War Dogs"
|
The use of dogs in military service is ubiquitous today, but it was not until World War II that the US Armed Forces began a war dog program. With the aid of Dogs for Defense and training programs across the United States, the military was able to establish a program for guard dogs, scout and messenger dogs, and even mine-detection dogs. Join us as Senior Registrar and Director of Collection Management Toni Kiser discusses the history of America's war dogs and their path to become a successful and vital part of the military. Dinner with a Curator is an evening of dinner and history hosted by The American Sector Restaurant & Bar culinary team and Museum professionals. Guests participate in discussion on a featured topic related to World War II, which is interpreted through the Museum's collection and a theme-inspired three-course dinner paired with beverage specials.
