FREE Student Webinar on the 6888th Central Postal Battalion
Zoom, Online Event

Join The National WWII Museum for this webinar highlighting the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, a battalion made up of over 800 African American women during World War II. During this webinar, a Museum educator will highlight the work done by these women overseas as they were given a daunting task of clearing out a backlog of over 17 million pieces of mail. Throughout the program, the stories of these women will be discussed through primary source material as well featuring the oral history clips of a member of the 6888th, Romay Davis. In her oral history, Davis recounts her experiences serving during World War II, and she discusses the prejudice she faced as an African American woman and how segregation and gender roles of the time affected her during the war, as well as the changes made after World War II.
