Operation Olympic: The Climactic Invasion of Southern Japan...That Never Happened

How would the war with Japan have ended if the Manhattan Project failed? More than likely, with a series of bloody amphibious invasions that would have dwarfed Normandy and Okinawa in both scale and ferocity. Curator Larry Decuers will take a look at the proposed plan to invade Kyushu, code-named Olympic, that was slated to take place on November 1, 1945, and what the Japanese response may have looked like.

This webinar is part of regular programming commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II made possible by Bank of America.
