New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp Lagniappe Day

The National WWII Museum is teaming up with the nonprofit New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp (NOTJC) to host a four-hour continuous jam session at BB’s Stage Door Canteen! This event is the musical finale of the NOTJC's weeklong jazz workshop, which teaches adult musicians from all over the world how to play New Orleans traditional jazz in the heart of the French Quarter.

The workshop includes song selections associated with the pioneers of early jazz, such as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Kid Ory, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, and the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, and it offers scholarships to high school and college students who will be joining the jam session.

The event is free and open to the public. Food and drink will be available for purchase from The American Sector Bar & Restaurant. For more information, please email Maggie Hartley, Director of Public Engagement, at maggie.hartley@nationalww2museum.org.
