Exclusive Preview of Ken Burns' "The U.S. and the Holocaust"
Solomon Victory Theater

NOTE: A livestream will not be available for this event as it is for in-person attendees only.

Join The National WWII Museum, in partnership with WYES, for an exclusive preview of “The U.S. and the Holocaust.” This new three-part film series directed and produced by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick, and Sarah Botstein explores America’s response to one of the greatest humanitarian crises in history.

Inspired in part by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s “Americans and the Holocaust” exhibition and supported by its historical resources, the film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global antisemitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States and race laws in the American south. The series, written by Geoffrey Ward, sheds light on what the U.S. government and American people knew and did as the catastrophe unfolded in Europe. The three-part film series, The U.S. and the Holocaust, will air September 18, 19, and 20 at 7:00 p.m. (repeating at 9:00 p.m.) on WYES and PBS.

Ahead of the preview screening, there will be a reception from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of Solomon Victory Theater. Following the preview screening, there will be an expert panel discussion of the film series topics.

This event is free to the public, but registration is required. It is encouraged to register early, as this program is expected to reach capacity. This program will not be livestreamed.
