French National Order of the Legion of Honor Presentation
US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center

NOTE: A livestream will not be available for this event as it is for in-person attendees only.

Join The National WWII Museum and Nathalie Beras, Consul General of France in Louisiana, on behalf of the President of France as we honor WWII veteran Norris Morvant of Thibodaux, Louisiana, with the bestowment of the National Order of the Legion of Honor to the rank of Chevalier. The Legion of Honor is the highest military and civil decoration awarded in France.

A French-speaking Cajun from south Louisiana, Morvant served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was selected to work in the office of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. He was subsequently awarded a Bronze Star by Gen. George Patton. As a bilingual soldier, he could translate documents, decipher messages, and speak directly with the people whose countries the Allies were liberating. Morvant’s efforts were invaluable to the Allied Forces overseas between their units as well as to the local French-speaking population during World War II.

This event is in-person only and will not be livestreamed. For more information, contact Jessica Saddler, at jessica.saddler@nationalww2museum.org.
