Educational Student Travel Scholarships Available

Normandy Academy, Student Leadership Academy, and Warsaw Academy

The National WWII Museum's student travel programs allow high school and college students to earn college credit while exploring the leadership lessons and real-life decision-making scenarios of World War II. Travel scholarships are available for these programs. Students can apply now!

“The trip was amazing! It was great to get to know so many people who shared the same interests as me and get the ability to make friendships that will last a lifetime,” said Joseph A. Chichelo, one of the 2018 scholarship recipients. “Even more meaningful was the chance to stand exactly where my great-grandfather had over 74 years ago, and actually walk where his unit came ashore on D-Day plus one. This was so significant to me, since it was learning about my great-grandfather’s sacrifice that had developed my interest in America’s ‘Greatest Generation.’ I made sure to bring a photo of him with me to some locations.”

Normandy Academy

July 7–18, 2019 (College)
July 14–25, 2019 (High School)

Normandy Academy is a 12-day high school and college study-abroad travel program that allows students to explore the WWII battlefields, beaches, and monuments of Normandy, France. Students will begin their journey on the Museum's New Orleans campus after completing a comprehensive online preparatory course.

Student Leadership Academy

June 24–30, 2019

Student Leadership Academy is a seven-day domestic study program that pairs online learning with a behind-the-scenes experience at The National WWII Museum's New Orleans campus. Students will learn hands-on lessons using interactive exhibits and Museum archives and artifacts—including a Sherman tank. This leadership program includes the opportunity to explore historic New Orleans and the surrounding bayou country. Student Leadership Academy is the Museum's premier leadership development program.

Warsaw Academy

June 15–July 6, 2019

Warsaw Academy, a three-week study-abroad opportunity for college students, is one of the newest educational travel offerings from The National WWII Museum. This unique and interactive program brings students face-to-face with the reality of the Jewish ghettos, the Holocaust, and the brutality of the Eastern Front by bringing them to the heart of Poland where these atrocities took place. Warsaw Academy is led by expert historian and Museum Presidential Counselor Alexandra Richie, DPhil, who has designed an itinerary that blends classroom instruction with visits to historic sites.
